On May 8th, 2025, a new chapter in the Church's history began with the election of Pope Leo XIV (Robert Francis Prevost). His papacy follows the profound and impactful pontificate of our beloved Holy Father Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21st, 2025. The white smoke from the Sistine Chapel signaled the College of Cardinals' decision, ushering in a successor poised to continue the Church's mission of mercy and outreach in a rapidly changing world.

Pope Leo does not thunder from balconies or hide behind ritual. His power comes not from might but from mercy, not from pomp but from purpose. In an age of confusion and division, Pope Leo XIV emerges not as a reactionary, but as a radiant voice of clarity, rooted in Christ.

He walks quietly, but every step echoes with the Gospel. He listens before he speaks. When he speaks, the world leans in, not for novelty, but for nourishment. His words do not seek applause. They seek hearts. Under his papacy, the Church is not an edifice of marble and shadow. It is a field hospital, a living body, a place of encounter and conversion.

Pope Leo XIV calls for unity without uniformity, for truth without triumphalism. He revives the ancient while embracing the urgent. When many see the Church as irrelevant or rigid, he reminds the faithful that holiness is not withdrawal from the world, but immersion in its wounds.

He wears his white not as armor, but as witness. His eyes carry sorrow and hope in equal measure. He prays with those who suffer. He visits the margins. He preaches peace, not as theory, but as responsibility. His call is not merely to defend the faith, but to live it openly, joyfully, and courageously.

In Pope Leo XIV, we hear the voice of Peter again, not as a prince, but as a shepherd. A shepherd who knows his sheep, who smells of them, and who lays down his life for them.

He is not a new beginning. He is a faithful continuation. And through him, the world is reminded that the Church still breathes, still burns, still believes.

A Prayer for our new Pope:
Let us pray for Leo XIV, our Pope.

May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. Our Father.

Hail Mary. O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful,
look favorably on your servant Leo XIV, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd; grant, we pray, that by word and example he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
